About Jake
My name is Jake and I am a graduate Ecologist undertaking my Msc in scientific research. I have vast knowledge in the natural sciences and mathematics, which reaches out to my hobbies of botany and foraging. I have recently completed a TEFL course enabling me to teach English as a foreign language. This course also gave me the required skills for lesson planning and classroom management. I am planning on becoming a full-time teacher after I complete my MSc and am using tutoring as a part-time source of funding.
I have a strong history of running events and workshops designed for outreach giving me confidence and strong communication skills. Many of my previous jobs have involved creating engaging content and I really enjoy the rewards of sharing knowledge.

No matter the subject my lessons are structured and personally catered to the individual students' needs.
Lessons will typically be one hour long and will break down as followed:
1. Start with a warmer activity to produce engagement and introduce the subject before diving in.
2. A overview of the chosen topic.
3. A structured activity relevant to the chosen topic.
4. Concept checking activity to ensure the student understands.
5. A plenary with an overview of what was learned and a chance to ask questions and give feedback.
My lessons are for any primary or secondary students up to GCSE with an interest in Mathematics, English, or natural scineces.
