The lessons will be based on the students curriculum or questions but however on a general and extensive level The curriculum will cover the following topics, based on the syllabus of the student’s school and the requirements of the final exam:
Introduction to Economics: Scarcity, choice, opportunity cost, production possibilities frontier, etc.
Microeconomics: Demand and supply, elasticity, market structures, consumer and producer surplus, etc.
Macroeconomics: GDP, inflation, unemployment, fiscal and monetary policy, etc.
International Economics: Trade, exchange rates, balance of payments, etc.
Materials: The materials will include the following sources, which will be used to supplement the student’s textbook and notes:
Online videos and podcasts from reputable sources, such as Khan Academy, Crash Course, etc., to explain the concepts and provide examples
Online articles and reports from credible sources, such as The Economist, World Bank, etc., to illustrate the real-world applications and implications of the concepts
Online quizzes and games from reliable sources, such as Quizlet, Kahoot, etc., to test the student’s knowledge and understanding of the concepts
Timeline and Pace: The timeline and pace will be determined by the student’s availability and progress, but the general plan is to have two sessions per week, each lasting one hour, for a total of 12 weeks. The sessions will be divided into three phases:
Phase 1: Review and Reinforce (Weeks 1-4): The sessions will focus on reviewing the basic concepts and principles of Economics, using the online videos and podcasts as the main source of instruction. The sessions will also include exercises and quizzes to reinforce the student’s learning and identify any gaps or misconceptions.
Phase 2: Apply and Analyze (Weeks 5-8): The sessions will focus on applying the concepts and principles of Economics to real-world scenarios, using the online articles and reports as the main source of information. The sessions will also include discussions and debates to analyze the different perspectives and arguments on the issues.
Phase 3: Synthesize and Evaluate (Weeks 9-12): The sessions will focus on synthesizing the concepts and principles of Economics and evaluating their relevance and validity, using the student’s textbook and notes as the main source of reference. The sessions will also include projects and simulations to assess the student’s ability to apply their knowledge and skills to complex and novel situations.
Teaching and Assessment Strategy
Teaching: The teaching strategy will be based on the following principles:
Active and collaborative learning: The sessions will involve the student in the learning process, by asking questions, giving feedback, and encouraging participation. The sessions will also foster collaboration between the tutor and the student, by sharing ideas, opinions, and experiences.
Differentiated and personalized instruction: The sessions will cater to the student’s individual needs, preferences, and goals, by adapting the content, methods, and pace of instruction. The sessions will also provide personalized support and guidance to the student, by addressing their strengths, weaknesses, and challenges.
Inquiry-based and problem-based learning: The sessions will stimulate the student’s curiosity and interest, by posing problems, scenarios, and questions that require investigation and exploration. The sessions will also develop the student’s critical thinking and problem-solving skills, by requiring them to find, evaluate, and use evidence and logic to support their claims and solutions.
