About Jennifer
Hello, I'm Jennifer! I've been tutoring for several years now specialising in Science. I'm currently studying a Bachelors of Science in Economics at SOAS University of London and plan to transfer to UCL in the near future. One of my proudest moments as a tutor was when I had the opportunity to work for 2 Year 10 students, where I taught them GCSE science, bringing up their grades by 2 grades in the space of 2 months. I am also a part of SOAS Student Ambassadors, where I have had the privilege of offering advice on UCAS applications and personal statements. I usually plan a lesson a few days prior to the session, so I will ask my students which topics they want to go through during the session, so that they get the most out of a lesson. I like to start with the very basics of each topic, ensuring that my student is familiar and completely comfortable with the fundamentals of a topic. Once that is achieved, we will go on to more difficult theories within the topic. I typically use worksheets during the lesson, with activities so that my students not only are active during the session, but also have a little revision booklet, of which they can use to revise from. I often use exam questions too, for continuous practice of content learnt.
A typical lesson will be 2 hours long with a 5 - 10 minute break in between to refresh. I teach science, up to GCSE level. My current students have seen a significant improvement in their grades. One student in particular, started off obtaining a 4 and is now obtaining a 6, after just 2 months of tuition.
I have obtained A*s in my science GCSEs in 2018, as well as 2 A's in chemistry and biology A-Level
