About Xiaolan
Previously, I completed my bachelor's and master's degree both in education in China and the UK, where I learned basic and specific knowledge in education. My teaching history spans various levels, from primary to junior middle levels in China's 12-year school system to adult learners across three private education institutions. This diverse background facilitated a nuanced grasp of language teaching, allowing me to deploy effective techniques like Phonics and the Situational Approach. These methods proved instrumental in sparking my students' language interest. Since 2016, my role as a Mandarin private tutor for non-Mandarin speakers has been a source of profound satisfaction. Tailoring my approach to accommodate diverse learning needs, I've successfully delivered engaging and interactive lessons both online and in-person. As a part-time Mandarin tutor, adapting to individual preferences has been paramount, fostering an immersive educational environment. Witnessing the tangible progress of my students has perpetuated my enthusiasm for teaching. Moreover, I have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office package and Video editing software since I received the Certificate of National Computer Level 1 and National Teacher Qualification Certificate (China). In a nutshell, as far as I am concerned, I love teaching and always keep passion in it, because education is the base of the bright future of the whole world. I would like to put myself in education forever!

Perfect! Xiaolan is an absolutely fantastic Chinese tutor. Her enthusiasm for teaching
is infectious, and her patience is remarkable — she makes you feel completely
at ease regardless of your level.

Perfect! Very interactive Mandarin lesson by the tutor, she makes the lesson fun and very engaging. My child feel enjoying every lesson and feel confident with the learning. Xiao Lan always prepare the lesson ahead and share the materials and gave feedback after end of the each lesson. We are really grateful to have her as our child Mandarin tutor.
- Jayden is a genius in Chinese!! He always keep the passion and positive learning attitude in class. He likes to find the language rules and summarize them in class and note them down on his notebook in time. What's more, I enjoy to watch his homework video every time, it's creative and interesting. I have known Xiaolan for many years and I love how passionate she is about sharing her language and culture with others. She does a wonderful job with preparing her lessons and makes them practical, yet fun. I highly recommend her as a Chinese tutor!
Xiaolan is an incredible tutor and person, she is able to easily identify and understand her pupil’s needs and meet them accordingly. Xiaolan has a wonderful command of both languages and tailors each lesson to her tutee’s personality and interests. Her lessons are fun, engaging and informative, Xiaolan is also an all-round joy to be around, I always look forward to them and highly recommend her for anyone hoping to learn Mandarin in a comfortable, effective and authentic way.
