About Amelie

Hi, I’m Amelie, a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) / Business Management student at the University of Queensland, majoring in Economics. I am friendly, patient and committed to creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Through my university studies and professional school placements, I have developed experience working with a diverse range of high school students and adapting explanations to different learning needs. My goal is to help every student strengthen their understanding, build confidence and become a more independent learner. My specialties are with secondary Humanities students, however I welcome requests for core subjects (e.g. General English and Math) and primary aged students.

About the lesson

I tailor each lesson to the student’s individual goals, learning needs and current level of understanding. My approach combines clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice and regular checks for understanding. I also use retrieval practice, scaffolding and real-world examples to make complex Business, Economics and Humanities concepts easier to understand and remember. I am familiar and more than happy working with students with disability requiring additional support.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although the length can be adjusted to suit the student. I tailor each lesson to the student’s individual goals, learning needs and current level of understanding. My approach combines clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice and regular checks for understanding. I also use retrieval practice, scaffolding and real-world examples to make complex Business, Economics and Humanities concepts easier to understand and remember.
