Perfect! I love every part of my lesson(s) with Muoi. As a Vietnamese-born American who left Vietnam at the age of 2, Vietnamese was my first language. But having been so young when I came to the US, I wield English as if it was my native tongue. I have read hundreds of books in English. I paid attention in class when learning Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. I have even used the term "star crossed" perfectly in dialog with a girl. I have been asked to officiate weddings due to my ability to speak and articulate thought in English so well. Yet with all this ability with English, my command of Vietnamese is that of an illiterate 8-year old's. Which was when it was no longer practical for me to use Vietnamese while living in the US. I am still fluent with what effectively is my 8-year old self's Vietnamese lexicon, but that is as useful to me as if my English proficiency remains as my 8-year old self. In recent months, I have had a spiritual need to reconnect to my Vietnamese roots. Muoi has not only been my tutor in the Vietnamese language, she has helped me with this "reconnection therapy" I am putting myself through. I have lofty goals as I continue my lessons with Muoi. And should I be able to achieve these lofty goals, then I shall be indebted to her in a way that I can never repay.
