... as long as you are willing to work! So here are my expectations for you as one of my students: I always tell my students, "I'll work as hard for you as you work for me." So I need my students to SHOW UP AND SHOW OUT! I have taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders throughout my 16 year career. All of my students know I'm firm, but fun!

MY METHOD: MAKE IT MAKE SENSE and MAKE IT FUN!!! This is my motto to my students and to myself when I am teaching. As a student (back in the day), I struggled to make sense of Math concepts and had ZERO fun. I literally hated Math. Ironically enough, Math has become my favorite subject to teach (and I've taught em all)! I can truly empathize with my students and their feelings about Math...the good AND the bad feelings. I use that love/ hate Math relationship to drive my lessons and strategies that I teach my students.
WHY SHOULD MS. B. TUTOR ME? ...STRATEGIES!!! I have THE BEST! I've discovered I personally retain things better if I use a mnemonic device to help me...so I use these a lot when coming up with/ teaching my original strategies. I have students that I had over 10 years ago tell me they STILL remember my Math songs and rhymes! I'm tellin' ya, they work!!!
LESSON PLANS: A typical lesson plan will start with a quick warmup (Fast Fluency), I'll then direct teach (I teach) the skill we are working on for the lesson, we will do some guided practice (we do), and independent practice (YOU show what you know!)
WHO ARE MY LESSONS FOR? Any 3rd-5th grade student who is needing to have a little more support (and fun) with Math. Any 3rd-5th grader that is willing to give Math a chance. :)
