About Mason
I’ve been teaching guitar for 7+ years and hold a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Guitar Studies, which strongly shaped my approach to musicianship. I’m deeply passionate about helping students develop their ears alongside their technical skills. Ear training was a turning point in my own playing. I specialize in advanced listening skills for guitarists who want to move beyond patterns and shapes. A major focus of my lessons is transcribing solos directly from recordings. This process builds accuracy, confidence, and musical intuition. I also help students learn to identify chord progressions purely by ear. These skills open up real musical freedom. For committed students, I offer structured approaches to developing perfect pitch. My teaching style is focused, patient, and practical. I believe strong ears create confident musicians. My goal is to help students truly hear what they play.

My teaching approach is focused on helping guitar students turn creative ideas into complete and meaningful songs. I believe strong structure helps creativity grow instead of limiting it. In lessons, guitar technique, rhythm, and timing are always connected to musical expression. I teach songwriting directly on the guitar so ideas feel natural and playable from the start. We explore chord progression choices and how they shape emotion and direction in a song. This helps students understand how music communicates feeling. I also guide students through lyrical composition, focusing on clarity, honesty, and storytelling. Lyrics should support the music and feel natural to sing. Acoustic arranging is an important part of my methodology. We work on dynamics, texture, and song flow. I support expressive players and those driven to write original music. I encourage them to trust their ideas. Together, we shape rough concepts into finished songs and musical stories.
