My emergency medicine tutoring plan focuses on personalised teaching to boost student understanding, confidence, and clinical skills. Key Phases of the Tutoring Plan The plan begins with an Initial Assessment to understand the student's background, learning style, and specific areas of weakness and strength. This involves gathering information on their programme level, current performance, and learning objectives, and setting clear expectations for the tutoring sessions. The core of the plan is the Personalised Teaching Strategy, which adapts to each student's needs. It emphasises case-based learning to develop clinical reasoning, supported by concept-based reviews for foundational knowledge. Question practice and analysis are integrated to improve critical thinking and exam performance. The strategy also includes targeted discussions on procedural skills and cognitive debriefing to enhance decision-making. Personalisation is achieved by adjusting the pace, varying teaching modalities, addressing student anxiety, and encouraging active recall. Monitoring Progress and Feedback is an ongoing process, involving regular check-ins, informal assessments, and constructive feedback from both the tutor and the student. Homework assignments are used to reinforce learning and prepare for future sessions. Finally, Session Review and Future Planning ensures that key learning points are summarised, next steps are outlined, and long-term goals are continually revisited.
