About Virginia
I am an experienced Spanish Teacher and Tutor. I have taught in the classroom as well as in the tutoring setting and I prefer the tutoring setting. I feel students learn a lot better in the individualized setting because the student can be more focused and less distracted. I understand what it is like to learn a foreign language because I have done it myself and succeeded so I am very patient with people. I started learning Spanish in the 8th grade and loved it, so when I went to high school, I couldn't wait to take it again. Took 3 years in High School, and 4 more years in college and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish. I studied and lived in Mexico, Spain, and Costa Rica where I learned to speak the language. I can now speak fluently in Spanish, which I love to do, and have also worked as a Spanish Medical Interpreter. I have also gone to Puerto Rico 7 times for vacation and plan on going again! I know you will do well with me, learn a lot and feel more confident with your Spanish skills after tutoring with me. So let's get started!

My approach to the tutoring session would be to first see where the student's level is and go from there. I first want to see what he or she has been working on already (if the student is already enrolled in a class) and then find out what areas the student is struggling with and then go from there. Most of the time it's difficulty with grammar, like verb conjugation or sentence structure. If a student has never taken a class in Spanish before, I take them from the very beginning.

My rate for In Person Tutoring is $30/hr.
My rate for Online Instruction is $25/hr.
$20 Cancellation fee if less than 24 hrs. unless it is a reasonable emergency.
