About Ye Jin
I'm a rising high school junior who loves helping students discover that math doesn't have to feel intimidating.
I work with elementary and middle school students as well as students taking Algebra I and Geometry. Whether the student needs extra support, wants to strengthen their skills, or is looking to build confidence, my goal is to create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
Tutoring is about much more than improving grades. I aim to help students:
- Feel less intimidated by math
-Build a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts
-Learn how to break challenging problems into manageable steps
-Develop the confidence to solve problems independently
As a current high school student, I understand many of the challenges students face today, which allows me to connect with them and explain concepts in ways that feel approachable. Having overcome dyslexia during elementary and middle school, I know firsthand how life-changing patient and encouraging support can be.
My own experience with tutoring has shaped my belief that every student can succeed with the right guidance, and it inspires me to create that supportive and comfortable learning environment for students.
I'm a Davidson Young Scholar and a Vanderbilt University Youth Scholar, and I've attended advanced math and science programs at Northwestern and Vanderbilt University. These experiences have strengthened my problem-solving skills and deepened my love of mathematics, which I can’t wait to share with others.

Every lesson is personalized to the student's needs, pace, and learning style. Instead of simply memorizing formulas, we'll focus on understanding the math concept. Together, we'll break complex concepts into smaller, achievable steps until they make sense.
Typical tutoring session:
· Students can bring homework, worksheets, or review materials to work through together. If no materials are available, the math topic can be shared in advance (e.g., fractions, order of operations, quadratics), and I will prepare supplemental practice and resources ahead of time.
· During lessons, we focus on reviewing concepts, practicing problems, and building understanding step-by-step. Students learn strategies for breaking down problems and gaining confidence in their problem-solving abilities.
· The goal is for each student to leave with clearer understanding and stronger skills.
Most importantly, I want students to leave each session feeling more capable and confident than when they started and help them develop curiosity that will continue to serve them throughout their education.
