Michael is a great physics tutor. He has really helped me to understand my GCSE content rather than just learn it which is really useful for exam situations. I would highly recommend him!

I had a few online lessons with Michael in lockdown, despite the nature of online lessons being very challenging in relation to face to face, I felt Michael tried very hard to adapt to this and I found him to be a great success. I would highly recommend anyone to use Michael if they are unsure about how useful online lessons will be as i think everyone who uses him will find it to be a great success.

Michael taught me mostly violin, but also piano, on a weekly basis for about two and a half years, from February 2017. His lessons were very well structured, beginning with warm-up exercises on scales, arpeggios and previously studied, easier pieces. I would be given an opportunity to demonstrate something I'd tried at home. We would typically work on developing previously started pieces and often he would also introduce a slightly more challenging new piece, so that interest was always maintained, and progress enabled. Michael also taught me to read music. He would usually demonstrate a new section of work and then I would be invited to try it myself. He was encouraging, while at the same time picking up on errors in my playing or technique in a constructive way. As I progressed, he would sometimes, without demonstrating it first, ask me to try something unfamiliar to see how I managed. He paid attention to the dynamics of pieces, including loudness and style of playing. At the end of each lesson he would write a summary of points to remember and suggestions for things to practise or try. He had excellent communication skills and excellent subject knowledge.

Michael has been creating high quality GCSE and A-Level physics resources for us since summer 2019. Michael’s subject knowledge is excellent and clearly communicates this to help others understand physics. We have found Michael to be well organised and very communicative. I don’t doubt that Michael would make a great science tutor!
