About Annie
I am a mechanical engineering student at Polytechnique Montréal. I graduated from Collège de Maisonneuve with a Diploma of College Studies in pure and applied sciences. My academic average is 95% and my average in CEGEP/pre-university math courses is 98%.
I have given private home and online catch-up lessons, and I have also tutored students at my CEGEP. Furthermore, I have monitored the chemistry and math help centers of my CEGEP. I have tutoring experience in the following subjects: secondary 5 mathematics (natural sciences sequence), differential calculus, integral calculus, linear algebra and vectorial geometry, mechanics, general chemistry, solution chemistry, and written French. I have worked with students with ADHD and who required student accessibility services from CEGEP. In total (excluding the students I have helped while monitoring the help centers), I have tutored 9 students.

I teach all levels of math from elementary school to CEGEP/pre-university, so from the most basic arithmetic concepts to CEGEP-level calculus and linear algebra. I teach all those levels in French, and I teach elementary school to middle school levels in English.
My lessons are geared toward students who want regular help with understanding homework and class material, who want better class notes, tips and tricks for learning math, who need catch-up or enrichment, etc. My teaching method is focused on making the student understand completely all the concepts and formulas rather than making them memorize the material. Once the theory is grasped and internalized, I move on to practice problems. I give clear steps and instructions on how to solve different mathematical exercises. I make sure to adapt the lesson to the needs specified by the student.
A typical class can go like this :
1- I ask the student if they have any questions about the material they have seen in class, and the previous homework their teacher has given or that I have given.
2- I teach the material to the student and do practice examples with them. Depending on the situation, I might use the student's notes, their teacher's notes and/or my own notes.
3- I give homework to the student. Again, depending on the student, I might explain and start off every problem to make sure the student will be able to do all the exercises on their own.
What makes me special as a tutor is that I make sure the student understands every basic concept before moving on to more complicated material. I take the time to correct misunderstandings from past learnings because I know how they can build up and make new material harder to grasp. I am organized in my way of teaching and solving math problems. I am also very patient, enthusiastic, and easy to talk to. Being a university student who is learning advanced math, I can relate to my students, understand their questions better and foresee the type of problems their teachers might put in the exams.
