About Sargam
Hi! I am currently an engineering student at Oxford University. I am looking to tutor students in Maths and Physics up to the A level standard. I am endlessly curious about what makes things work and the complex processes of nature that inspire modern innovation. I am always struck by the varying ways in which different sciences view the same object and reminded that seeing something from as many angles as possible is how you get a deeper understanding - this is something I try to employ with complex topics as you often get roundabout exam questions that make you work your way back to the specification. Maths and physics are all about building up from the basics and returning to these basics is always the key to cracking a difficult topic. I am keen to help students reinforce these as they prevent panicking in the face of a new style of question. I received the following A level and GCSE results: A levels (taken in June 2025): Maths - A* Further Maths - A* Physics - A* Chemistry - A Biology - A GCSEs: Maths, Triple Science, English Literature, Spanish, Art, History - 9 English Language, Computer Science - 8 I have experience tutoring GCSE students in Maths and the core sciences (2 years). I worked as an art tutor, teaching students aged 4-15. (4 years) I have a Graduate Senior Abacus award from the Roots Academy of Mathematics, Singapore I received a Silver certificate in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge and Gold certificate in the UKMT Intermediate Mathematical Challenge as well as a Certificate of Merit in the UKMT Intermediate Olympiad and Kangaroo. I have volunteered in Special Educational Needs schools and worked with children with Autism and ADHD and am able to incorporate techniques that allow the learning to happen in an engaging and comfortable atmosphere.

I am fluent and comfortable teaching in both English and Hindi. I was in a traditional school for my GCSEs (on a scholarship at a private girls' school in Greater London) but I studied and gave my A levels as an independent student due to health reasons. Via this experience, I learnt a lot about the varying exam boards, question styles and how to tailor the learning experience to best enhance student understanding as well as prepare for relevant examinations. As I did this recently, I do believe I have a fresher understanding of what generally trips students up and how to remedy it. I generally find the first few lessons to be reconnaissance for the student's strengths and weaknesses and am then able to curate a personalised plan for improvement to reach the required goals. I am happy to do online lessons as I will be splitting my time between Bedford and Oxford as per university term time but if the locations are favourable I am open to consider face-to-face lessons.
