About Alexander
Hi my name is Alexander, but you can call me Alex.
I have volunteered at daycares, taught swim lessons, and I spent a summer as assistant camp director - I have lots of experience working with and teaching kids and I love when I see them on a good path. A student's attitude will make a bigger difference than one hundred tutors, that's why my focus is on building confidence, not simply delivering information.
If you are looking for a tutor to discipline your child, that isn't me. I negotiate with my students, hear what they have to say, and try to motivate them to realize their potential.
I will be starting my final year of Mechanical Engineering at Ontario Tech University this fall. While I am a competent writer, my skills stand out in teaching math and science.

My lessons are focused around learning and connecting ideas. I work to build off of the student's existing knowledge by relating real world experiences to theoretical concepts.
A typical lesson for me would start with a discussion of the material, where I determine what the student knows and what they struggle with. Then I walk the student through a set of examples to develop the areas that are lacking. I would show some examples myself if necessary, but I try my best to give as little away as possible, finding the answer yourself is what helps you learn.
I excel in math and science and can teach proficiently up to grade 12, I prefer to work with students who are at least 8 years old. I can also help Ontario Tech engineering students in their first two years.
