About Ali Arif
Hello! I'm a passionate tutor specialising in O Level, IGCSE, and A Level Chemistry and Biology. Having recently completed my A Levels and now pursuing an Engineering degree, I have a strong conceptual and analytical grasp of these syllabi, along with firsthand understanding of the challenges students face while preparing for them. My teaching focuses on keeping concepts simple, building strong fundamentals, and improving exam performance through intensive past paper practice and proven exam techniques. I am in the teaching field solely because of one of my teachers, who always advised me to pass on knowledge to others and that is exactly why I am here!

I focus on concept building rather than rote memorization, because that's what IGCSE and O/A Level examiners actually reward marks on.
My sessions are structured around this, I dedicate the first portion to building strong conceptual understanding, then spend the major chunk of the lesson on past paper solving, since that's where students learn to apply what they know under exam conditions. I also walk students through marking schemes and examiner reports in detail, coming from a Cambridge background myself, understanding exactly how examiners award marks made a real difference in my own results, and I make sure my students get that same edge.
2 years of tutoring experience, having taught 15+ students.
My sessions are for Grade 9–11 and A Level students studying Chemistry and Biology.
My sessions usually range from 45-60 minutes.
