I have known Gabriel Williams for some four years now; in fact, I remember it very well when I first interviewed him as an undergraduate at York University. He performed a piano piece by the Spanish composer Federico Mompou – a choice that surprised me, because not many undergraduates would have heard of this composer. But what impressed me more was the way he played the piece; it soon became obvious to me that I was interviewing a very talented student!
In my capacity as his supervisor, I followed his progress on a regular basis. Gabriel focused on composition, and his final folio was indeed impressive - the maturity of his compositions went well above the undergraduate level.

There is no doubt in my mind about Gabriel’s talent, and I believe that, with his qualities as an all-round musician, he will be an excellent teacher.
