About Rene
I self-studied O-Level Chemistry and improved my grade from C6 to B3 in two months, while managing all eight subjects with no tuition. I specialize in teaching O-Level Chemistry, having gained extensive experience with the syllabus and developed a passion for the subject. I also use industry insights to make the subject more relatable, especially in food chemistry.

I teach effective memorization, studying, and exam strategies based on my personal academic journey. I focus on helping students engage with the subject, understand key concepts, and apply practical techniques throughout the school year. During holidays and school terms, I emphasize understanding the material, while closer to exams, I shift to exam-focused methods, guiding students on how to score the most marks with minimal effort—focusing on high-yield answers, common questions, and what not to prioritize.
Track Record:
- 2021-2022: Helped a student improve from f9 to B3 in Combined Chemistry.
- 2022: Taught a group of 3 Applied Calculus students, resulting in at least one-grade improvements.
- 2023: Guided a group of 3 students in Food Chemistry, improving by one grade.
- 2024: Currently teaching 2 students in Pure and Combined Chemistry; one improved by one grade, and another jumped from F9 to C5.
- 2025: Teaching students in English, Literature, and Chemistry and Biology across different levels, mostly sec 3/4
I am well-versed in the O-Level syllabus, using my notes from 2021 for Pure Chemistry and going out of my way to buy assessment books for all my students based on their weaknesses in the subject. I rely on TYS for O-Level exam preparation, and for ongoing syllabus learning, I use slides, notes, and revision papers. My approach is tailored, supportive, and focused on helping students achieve their academic goals.
