About Sophia
I am a recent graduate from the University of Cambridge, where I got my degree in English! In September, I will be an English teacher via Teach First. It's safe to say I'm pretty passionate about all things literature, essays, and books. I am also very competent in French and in History. English is what I’ve studied the most; my periods of specialism range from 1300 - 21st Century Modern day. My background is in post-colonial research, Visual Culture, Shakespeare & twentieth-century prose.

My teaching style is snappy and engaging - we will get through a fair amount of content, and we will do it well! If there are particular areas that you are struggling with, the content will absolutely be tailored to your needs. Our lessons will include: Starter: Revision of content Recap: We will go through content-specific things you might be struggling with Essay practice: The best way to apply learning is to do an exam question! Homework: A combination of short and long exercises to keep things we’ve learnt in your long-term memory My lessons range in time: 1hr, 1hr 30min and 2hr lessons are available. For History, French and English, I can teach to the AQA specifications for GCSE and A-level. I will be an English teacher in a secondary school for years 7-11 in September. I tutored throughout my time at university, and can support Oxbridge and Russell group university applications and personal statements too.
