About Jordan
I'm a sophomore at Skidmore College, double majoring in English and history, and minoring in music. At Skidmore, I work at the Writing Center, where I help fellow students with their essays for a myriad of classes at any stage in the writing process, from brainstorming to final touches. In high school, I was a Peer Tutor, where I helped my classmates with any academic issue they might have been struggling with. I received perfect scores on both English sections of the ACT, a 5 on the AP English Language and Composition Test, and a 4 on the AP English Literature and Composition test.

As a current student myself, and an employee of the Writing Center at my college, I am very familiar with the teaching process required of English tutors. I possess what are, in my opinion, the most useful skills a tutor can have: patience, kindness, and a love of the subject matter. English has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and there is no greater joy for me than helping others love (or at least understand) the English language in the same way I do. My ability to tailor my explanations of concepts to my client's particular way of thinking sets me apart, allowing me to connect to and reach my clients in ways other tutors may not be able to. My lesson plans are dependent on both the client and the specific topic of tutoring (i.e. AP test, reading comprehension, spelling, etc), which is consistent with my student-first philosophy of teaching.
