About Katy

I have a Master's in Applied Linguistics, and have studied English grammar, assessment, and reading and writing instruction. I have taught university-level writing classes, helping students to learn how to paraphrase, follow APA conventions, and understand academic writing prompts. My most recent work has been with undergraduates, but I have worked with students of all ages, from kindergarten to retirees, on literacy and language skills.

About the lesson

My teaching method is focused on the individuals I instruct, with an emphasis on making the most of our time together. I work to create engaging activities. Having fun while working is essential for staying motivated, so we will share some laughs while we learn!

Katy and I studied and worked together at San Diego State University where I looked to her for guidance and knowledge on how to teach. She is an experienced instructor and leader with the creativity, empathy, and know-how that is necessary when providing students with the best and most comprehensive experience!

I worked with Katy for two years at San Diego State University. Her passion for teaching really shines in the way she communicates with her students and in her engaging classroom activities. She is excellent at explaining complicated grammar and writing topics so they are clear. She also handles classroom issues with professionalism and grace. She is very dedicated to making sure that her students can perform at their highest potential.
