About Lue

I have helped my students successfully complete their GCSEs and A levels with top results, and helped with numerous applications to top universities. Several of my students have achieved high 2.1s and firsts on their essays and dissertations at undergraduate and Master's level, due to my advice, tutoring support and proofreading.

My students have greatly varied in abilities, and I have helped them aim for their own personal targets, whether that is passing at a C level, or trying to make the difference between Bs and A*s.

About the lesson

I have a Master’s in Comparative Literature from Goldsmiths, University of London, having previously completed a Bachelor’s in English and Related Literature from the University of York.

I have several years experience tutoring and proofreading, and have been working with students at various academic levels, from GCSE to Masters, and in a variety of subject areas (but predominantly English Literature). For higher level students, my work mainly entails proofreading essays; and for GCSE and A Level, I teach exam preparation and basic study skills.

I like to work with my students and tailor our sessions to meet their particular needs, its a very co-operative teaching approach and I like to incorporate a range of learning techniques in order to find the best fit for each student. I try to make the experience as enjoyable as possible, finding creative solutions to problems and taking my students' interests into consideration.

I can help with: literacy, exam preparation, essay work, seminar based discussions, university application advice, creative writing, reading, and editing and evaluating work.

Lue's response
Both Kay's nephews are delights to teach. They are engaged, motivated and insightful. They listen to everything I have to say and are undaunted by any task I give them. They trust that I can support them and work with me (rather than against me) to reach their goals. Kay is also very helpful when it comes to responding to my messages and providing me with any information I need.

Perfect! I reached out to Lue to proof read my dissertation. She did an excellent job by THOROUGHLY proof reading the whole of my dissertation efficiently in order for me to achieve my best! Lue advised me on grammar, structure and referencing throughout and how to make improvements. Lue also pointed out sections that need more evaluation and reflection to push the dissertation mark into a higher band within the mark scheme. The way Lue delivered her feedback was professional, very clear and helpful. Lue has made me feel more confident in producing better quality of work, all thanks to her and her hard work.

I have no hesitation in recommending Lue as a trustworthy person and tutor.
My grandson missed a lot of schooling through illness and when it came time for his GCSEs he had a lot of catching up to do. Because of this he was in a high state of anxiety. Lue tutored him in all subjects, always spending some time allaying his fears, making fun time and explaining how to approach each exam. By the end of the tuition period his knowledge and confidence had increased markedly. I am delighted with Lue's tutoring, particularly because of her holistic approach

I approached Lue to assist me in completing a Masters application, and I could not recommend her services more highly. As a recent graduate she knows the university system inside out, and as such was able to confidently walk me through the entire application process. She proofread my personal statement, demonstrating excellent command of the English language, and provided clear and concrete advice on changes I should make, dedicating time and sensitivity to ensuring I had fully understood her feedback.

As well as proofreading, Lue assisted me in selecting my MA option modules, offering solid advice on academic coherence, and tutored me on how to make my application as strong as possible.

During my undergraduate degree, Lue regularly proofread my essays with the same keen eye for detail that she applied to my personal statement. She has an incredibly strong sense of academic style and essay structuring, and communicates this effectively. I was able to learn a lot from her tutoring on improving my academic writing, as well as her guidance on navigating academia as a whole.

In all, I highly commend Lue's skills as an academic consultant who is diligent, intelligent and kind.

Lue provided invaluable support during my master's degree in philosophy, giving me advice and proofreading my work. For my dissertation she recommended books and articles that ended up greatly determining my subject and my argument. Her notes were always clear and poignant. She would grasp ideas very quickly, and find clear and insightful ways of conveying them. With her guidance I was able to get a first for my dissertation and multiple essays. I would really recommend Lue as a tutor!
