About Emi
I am a 22 year-old English Literature graduate from the University of Bristol. I have experience in tutoring both GCSE and A-Level English Literature, with particular focus on exam-technique and poetry across several exam boards. I received a high 2:1 for my degree and full marks at A-Level. I have also published my own poetry and performed at open-mic poetry nights, and I won the English Speaking Union Award for Oxfordshire at the end of my time at school. I have so much enthusiasm for the subject that I love to encourage in my students, although I do understand that Literature is not every student's idea of fun!

I always ask students how they learn best - whether they prefer visual, instructive, auditory, conversational, or instructive lesson styles. I am happy to teach young children primary-school level English Language and to analyse stories with them in a subtle and play-based way. I am also happy to get into in-depth discussions with older students, at GCSE or A-Level, to explore and uncover the literature that they are studying and to build applicable analytical skills to really boost their marks when it comes to exams and coursework. I am comfortable with following a more prescriptive lesson structure referring to textbooks and exam techniques, or to engage the student in a more free-flowing discursive lesson plans. I am happy to teach online.
