About Imogen
I have a first class honours in English Literature/Philosophy as well as a Masters with distinction in English. I am extremely enthusiastic and dedicated to these subjects which I believe is representative in my teaching. I like to help students understand their readings as well as give them the tools necessary to improve their grades. I have experience teaching English at National 5 and Higher level but also happy to help those studying philosophy or at undergraduate level.

Lessons will be tailored around the interests of the student as well as areas in which they struggle, whether that be writing a convincing essay, textual analysis, grammar/punctuation or identifying literary techniques. My method involves teaching the pupil how to be an independent thinker, familiarising them with and reinforcing critical thinking skills, helping them to identify poetic and stylistic devices, as well as philosophical concepts. This means that the pupil will always be prepared with the linguistic and argumentative tools required to sit an exam or write an A* essay. Moreover, I want to incite curiosity and interest in pupils who are particularly struggling with motivation to learn in school. I am happy to teach both high school and university students, in both English and Philosophy. I have previously tutored National 5 and Higher English with a record of improving pupils' grades especially when it comes to textual analysis and essay writing. I am also happy to help with undergraduate essay or dissertation writing. However, lessons are for anyone wanting to improve these skills.
