About Ruby
I am a 4th year FDD Law student at ANU. I have tutored students throughout middle and high school, across all skill levels.
I was a very passionate English student in high school, and achieved a Band 6 English Advanced HSC mark. Throughout my years of tutoring, I have accrued a bank of resources and materials that have aided many students.
I think for tutoring to be effective, the student needs to be engaged to some degree, so I like to find areas of English that engage the student, and areas of study that might also engage the student. If you enjoy making decorative, colourful notes, that great, let's utilise that to make decorative and effective study skills. If you have a passion for tech design, make your notes on your laptop, and use cool software to design the structure of your notes.
Most importantly, the skills and knowledge acquired during tutoring should be applicable during independent study. I provide my students with links to resources which are publicly available, but not always so easy to find. Through providing routes for further research and learning beyond the sessions, I arm my students with skills they can carry beyond school.

I have tutored students across a range oh skill levels.
I begin by assessing the student's skill level, and their academic goals. Once areas of focus have been established, I incorporate exercises which I tailor make to the student's needs with weekly work the student may wish to address. If the student is looking for study skills support, I encourage the student to create a study calendar, which incorporates daily, weekly, and longer term study goals. I believe establishing consistent study routines and processes is essential for long term learning.
My typical lesson length is 1 hour, however, for students that have difficulty remaining engaged for the full hour, I offer 30 minute sessions.
