About Shannon
I am tutoring students in English, in the GCSES, IB, and IELTS.
English is my first language and Mandarin is my second language, so I am able to help students in both languages and can translate for students learning the language for the first time.
With over 4 years of experience in tutoring English, I have a well-rounded understanding of the academic landscape. All students I have tutored for at least a year have consistently achieved their desired GCSE, A-Level, and Primary grades.
In school, I was awarded top student in literature 3 times. I took IB Language and literature and am familiar with the subject and expectations
As an IBDP theatre graduate, I am very well versed in speech and oral skills. I scored an A in Theory of Knowledge and topped my cohort in the humanities (anthropology) three times. As an actor and writer, I have also written my own scripts and worked with BBC Comedy in writing and producing sketch comedies. I frequently perform stand-up comedy and have won various stand-up competitions.
I believe in a holistic approach to learning, where we cover reading, writing and dictation skills, depending on the student's needs. I am extremely personable and friendly, and am good at building a rapport with younger students to make language learning fun and exciting!

We will always discuss and assess where you are at with your English before we begin, and devise the most effective way forward depending on your needs. I am available at any time between lessons to answer queries, or generally to discuss matters. All materials, papers and marking are included.

Shannon has been an incredible Chinese teacher to my daughter for three years, guiding her through the language with remarkable patience and expertise. Despite my daughter not being a native Chinese speaker, Shannon’s unique approach, using drama and creative techniques, has made learning both engaging and enjoyable. Her dedication to her craft shines through in every lesson, and my daughter has flourished under her instruction. I cannot recommend Shannon highly enough—she is truly excellent!
Shannon is an excellent tutor who is kind, funny, and understanding. She prepared me very well for all my exams and is the best teacher I've ever had! She always finds new ways of explaining things to me if I don't understand and she is also super patient because I wasn't very confident.
Shannon is an excellent tutor who has tutored me since I was 13, and I'm now 16. She makes learning the subject enjoyable and I always feel like she's willing to put in more time to help me with my studies. She is also very friendly and makes lessons comfortable!
