About David
I have been a classroom teacher and tutor for almost 25 years. I first began teaching in San Migue De Allende, Mexico in 1995. I lived there for 1 year. I moved back to my home town, Los Angeles, in 1996 where I began teaching in the Inglewood Unified School District; bilingual 1st grade, and then 4th grade. Six years later, i was hired by a private elementary school where I taught 5th and then 6th grade for roughly 15 years.
I love teaching and all of the wonderful students I have been lucky enough to know. I sometimes hear from former students from elementary school who are now married adults and have their own chidren! It is also awesome to hear from students who I helped with their college entrance essays, and to which universities they were accepted.
I love being a "writing coach" - my goal is to bring out the best writer each student can be.

Good writers are good thinkers, because writing IS thinking. My approach to being a "writing coach" is to take a step back and learn how to "SEE" what your strengths and weaknesses are and then work on those areas. We will look at examples of good and bad writing and learn about what makes them good or bad, or just average. We"ll analyze written work and discuss what works and what doesn't and why. At the same time, we can be working on whatever ongoing assingments or projects you require support in. I love the writing process because it makes us all better thinkers and allows is to harness our creativity. Writing can also be confusing and hard, but the reward is sweet when you learn how to do it well.
