• 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  I speak English fluently as I was born in the United Kingdom. However the reason I became an English teacher is because I learnt Spanish as an adult and know the challenges when learning a second language. I want to help my students fall in love with the English language.

• 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  I have a great sense of humour so when I think about a fictional character that is emblematic of English culture I think of Paddington bear and his love of a cup of tea, London and a sandwich!

• 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

  I love how we have many idioms in the UK like "it's raining cats and dogs" or " it's not my cup of tea!"

• 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  I enjoy speaking English as it is my mother tongue but I also feel extremely grateful that I can speak English worldwide when I travel.

• 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  I understand that learning English has it's challenges such as the amount of propositions and phrasal verbs we have! I also understand how we spell words can be confusing. What I enjoy doing is guiding my students though points they may find challenging and ensuring that I break down the learning points so they can understand it and enjoy the language.

• 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  I remember a really cute french song that I learnt about the months of the year at high school. I still remember to this day enjoying singing it!

• 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  I have travelled across many countries of the world as that is my one true love! I speak Spanish and am also learning Italian. I have taught English all across the world including VIP families.
