About Odette

I like to support others with what I know, in a completely respectful way and with empathy. I’m able to connect with my students because I was once in their place and I know what it feels like to be a learner. I’d like to be the ideal teacher I once wished I had.

About the lesson

I like to start by showing genuine interest in the student, using a short warm-up with icebreaker activities to introduce the topic. I enjoy exploring the topic together through questions to guide the student toward a solid understanding. Making the lesson dynamic and using games is part of the personal touch I bring to help students feel comfortable. We move forward with exercises and conversation, and I end the class by inviting the student to reflect on how they can apply what they’ve learned. Feedback and support are present throughout the entire lesson.

¿Hablas este idioma gracias a tu lugar de origen o porque algún otro profesor te motivó para aprender?
Hablo inglés gracias a los excelentes profesores que me han acompañado a lo largo de mi
formación. Su apoyo, junto con mi interés genuino por el idioma, hizo que el aprendizaje fuera
accesible y motivador. Esto me ha permitido mejorar continuamente.
Cuéntanos de algún personaje inspirador que sea un emblema o muy representativo de la lengua que enseñas.
William Caxton fue clave en la historia del inglés. Como traductor e impulsor de la imprenta en
Inglaterra, ayudó a estandarizar y expandir el idioma en una época de grandes
transformaciones lingüísticas.
¿Hay alguna expresión o tradición que te llame mucho la atención de la lengua que enseñas?
Me encantan las expresiones idiomáticas. Son creativas, reflejan la cultura y permiten
comunicarse de manera más auténtica y natural. Además, son una forma divertida de
adentrarse en el idioma.
¿Por qué sería importante hablar esta lengua, ya sea en un plano escolar, profesional o personal?
El inglés abre oportunidades académicas, laborales y personales. Ayuda a entender otras
culturas, resolver imprevistos y adaptarse mejor en diversos contextos, incluso con
conocimientos básicos.
¿Qué es lo más difícil de aprender esta lengua?
La pronunciación representa un reto, ya que en inglés la fonética no siempre coincide con la
escritura. Requiere práctica y tiempo adaptarse a los sonidos del idioma.
¿Alguna anécdota que nos quieras contar sobre tu aprendizaje de la misma?
Una vez ayudé a un adulto mayor extranjero a usar el transporte público en mi ciudad. Los
trabajadores no hablaban inglés, así que intervine para traducir. Fue una experiencia valiosa
que reafirmó el impacto práctico de saber otro idioma.

Me esfuerzo por conocer a cada alumno, sus intereses y forma de aprender. Adaptar la clase a
su personalidad crea un ambiente seguro y motivador, lo que facilita el aprendizaje y la
participación activa.
