About Kit
Hello! My name is Kit (she/her).
I am a student at William & Mary who has extensive experience mentoring a wide range of ages, writing, and revising other people's writings.
I'm incredibly passionate about reading and writing, which is why I'm getting a minor in Creative Writing. I'd love to share my passion with students, or at the very least, share the skills that I've spent years honing.
Furthermore, I'm a very upbeat and warm person who loves mentoring younger kids and teenagers! I remember how stressful high school and college applications were and I plan to ease that stress for you as much as possible.

WHAT DO I DO?
I tutor writing and reading for all ages. I can tutor elementary schoolers in reading and spelling, up through high school AP English courses and college applications. Any age and skill level is welcome.
Essays are my specialty. I can review and suggest edits for college application essays and run through tricks for the SAT/ACT Reading and Writing portions.
WHY ME?
I am a current sophomore at William & Mary student with a 4.0 GPA and have made the Dean's List every semester thus far.
I am working on a Creative Writing minor. Writing is something I am deeply passionate about and have a lot of experience with.
Other notable schools I was accepted into include Davidson and Dartmouth.
For younger students, I have 3 years of experience mentoring ages 4-10 as a volunteer ballet teacher, and volunteer programs teaching first graders to read.
I am very staunchly against the use of AI in education and will not include it in my lessons nor encourage your student to use it.
HOW DO I TEACH?
Lesson plan will vary on the student, skill, and goal of the tutoring. But my methodology highly encourages students to come up with their own answers and working together towards progress rather than me simply doling out corrections without explanations.
For Essay Writing, I will teach your student:
- Outlining ( We will try different methods to find one your student works best with)
- Thesis
- Structure & Building an argument and/or story
- Revision techniques (which we will use together to polish the essay)
- Originality and Style

I met Kit through a poetry club at William & Mary, and between the workshops and open mics that we’ve attended together, as well as weekly meetings writing and sharing poetry, I can certainly attest to her writing ability. I have also read much of her prose writing in both academic and personal projects. She has an excellent grasp of writing methods drawing from different styles across poetry and prose, and as an instructor, she knows how to support a writer’s creativity while offering constructive feedback. Kit is an outstanding writer, and anybody passionate about writing will be lucky to have her as a tutor!
Kit is my roommate in college, and it’s like having a 24/7 tutor at all times! She is so knowledgeable about things that aren’t even her field; it’s like having the biggest dictionary/encyclopedia on the other side of the room. Furthermore, she is by far the most comprehensive reader I’ve ever met. She’s read literally everything imaginable and can give “PhD” level dissertations on them. She’s always ready to help me figure things out and always ready to learn things even she doesn’t know (not that there are any). If there is ever a person you need to help you in English, Kit’s your gal!
Kit is an amazingly kind and patient person! She is super positive and always encouraging! I ask her to review stuff for my personal store to make sure it sounds good but still in my voice! She is so helpful and gives wonderful recommendations whenever I need it! I would highly recommend her for help with papers to simple bios or writing blurbs for items! She is the best!
