About Mark
I have a bachelor's degree in English from Brigham Young University - Hawaii, where I graduated Cum Laude. During my time at university, I worked as an English tutor through the university's writing lab. Due to the high international population of Brigham Young University - Hawaii I was able to work with a wide variety of students from all around the world with many different levels of English proficiency.

I help with writing that you are working on through reading your work together and discussing ways to improve your writing skills practically by addressing flow, sentence structure, and punctuation. I also help with reading comprehension through reading something together at an appropriate reading level and discussing what we've read.
A typical lesson with me starts with a discussion of a previous reading assignment to see reading comprehension and gage language skills. Then we would move onto discussing a piece of writing that the student has done. Here we would work together to address any weaknesses that the essay or creative piece has and talk through ways to revise these weak areas and improve writing skills for future assignments. We would close by discussing what we will work on in our next session.
I am a qualified tutor through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) and have worked with many students who did not speak English as a first language.
My lessons are for high school students seeking to improve their writing skills in preparation for university, and university undergraduates seeking to improve their English skills for class and in preparation for their careers or graduate programs.
