About Shakila
English Teaching & learning continues to fuel and unlock my curiousity of knowing, especially in the fields of Poetry, Drama and Novels. Literature is truly a mirror of life.
My greatest strength is knowledge of core course materials. A relaxed atmosphere on an online platform is crucial, it removes the distance in distant learning. I am aware of the importance of using appropriate language and clear communication adjusted for different levels of student understanding. My 22 years of lecturing Face to Face and Online at UNISA, taught me to be flexible, to use varied Teaching/Learning styles. Students evaluation and suggestions assist me in my planning. The main goal is for students to become self-sufficient learners.
What I enjoy most is the emotional reactions of my students when they write about their passing a module. It makes it all worthwhile since I get to share in their success,.

Topic: Strategies for Critical Analysis of a Prescribed Poem. Objectives: Use Mind Maps, Highlighting, Templates to analyze: Outline, Diction, Style, Mood, Tone, Imagery, Literary/Language Devices and how these enhance the themes and underlying message conveyed.
