About Nathan
My journey as a guitar teacher began over seven years ago, and it’s been an incredible experience watching students grow in skill, creativity, and confidence. I’ve worked extensively with school and college-age learners, many of whom are picking up the guitar for the first time. I take pride in making that introduction to music a positive and exciting one. My teaching style blends structured skill development with creative expression. In the beginning, we build a foundation with core techniques: proper hand positioning, chord fluency, timing, and picking. From there, we explore real songs, improvisation, and songwriting as tools to expand your musical voice. I believe strongly in showing students how theory works in practice, so they can understand not just what they’re playing, but why it works musically. Many of my students have performed in talent shows, school events, or even started their own bands with what they’ve learned. One particularly rewarding experience was guiding a student who had never touched an instrument through their first year of playing, culminating in a performance of a song they wrote. That’s the kind of transformation I strive to support in every lesson. Music has the power to build confidence and self-expression, and I’m here to help you harness that power through guitar.

Seven years of teaching guitar has given me a deep appreciation for how music education can enrich lives. I have taught a wide variety of students, from young beginners to adult hobbyists, and each person’s journey has been unique and inspiring.
My teaching style balances technical instruction with creativity and personal expression. I make sure students master essential skills like chord shapes, strumming, and timing, while also exploring improvisation, songwriting, and different genres. This well-rounded approach keeps lessons fresh and relevant to each student’s interests. One of my favorite memories was helping a group of middle school students form a band, write original songs, and perform at their school’s talent show. Watching their confidence and teamwork grow was incredibly rewarding, and it reinforced my belief in the power of music as a community builder. I also focus heavily on building strong practice habits and goal-setting strategies, which help students maintain steady progress and avoid frustration.
Technology tools like recording apps, loopers, and online resources are incorporated to enhance learning and keep students engaged outside of lessons. Most importantly, I cultivate a supportive atmosphere where students feel motivated to express themselves freely and enjoy their musical growth. Whether someone wants to play casually or pursue music seriously, I am dedicated to helping them develop the skills, confidence, and passion to keep playing for years to come.
