About Steve
Hi there! I am a fully qualified teacher with over 24 years experienced teaching Mathematics and Physics. I have been tutoring for most of those years and am highly experienced in both face to face (in home) and online. I have a degree in Applied Physics and a Graduate Diploma in Education. Most of my career has been spent teaching international students from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and learning styles for entry to the University of Queensland, one of Australia’s top universities. This has allowed me to be very flexible in my teaching approach and to tailor my teaching style to different needs. In my teaching role, I need to maintain regular contact with the University of Queensland and this has provided me with a strong understanding of the sorts of knowledge and skills that students require when they enter tertiary studies. It also means I have a very good understanding of how my subject areas are being applied in real areas of research, which means that I can make my lessons as relevant to the modern world as possible. My students have given consistently excellent feedback over my teaching career and I would be very happy to supply testimonials and feedback.

I focus on clear understanding of key terminology and concepts before getting into more advanced and abstract ideas. I am an excellent motivator and I always try my best to share my passion for my subjects and for learning in general with students. I also check regularly that my teaching is effective by seeking feedback from students, allowing them time to ask questions and by posing questions for them to check their understanding. I am very patient and encouraging in my teaching style.
