About Mariel
Hello! Welcome! My name is Mariel. I am an English as a second language teacher/tutor. I LOVE learning about people, helping them grow, and discovering other cultures. My hobbies are travelling, cooking, watching movies, trying new foods as well as craft beverages like wine, beer, and cocktails and I also love to swim, scuba dive, and ride motorcycles!
I am sociable, friendly, fun, and engaging! Learning is so much easier when you can relax and have fun. Let's talk about your day, your interests, and your hobbies while I help you grow on your English journey.
EXPERIENCE:
- I have an International Business Management Degree and a 120-hour TESOL certificate.
- I have travelled to over 40 countries across 6 continents (so far!) so I am familiar with the struggles of communicating across language barrier - but I am also familiar with the kindness of strangers and the eagerness to have fun and learn from each other.
- I have been giving private 1:1 lessons for 2 years, virtually. I see most of my students 2-3 times a week and the progress has been remarkable!
- I focus on consistency, encouragement, using full sentences, and open discussions all while having an open and friendly learning environment.
- I have taught over 500 student in my career and have received a 100% 5/5 feedback score/record from all of my classes on my other platform.
