About Maria Carolina

My name is Maria Carolina Pomares, I am from Monteria, Colombia, and I have lived in the US for a total of 5 years. I am an ESL teacher graduated from Universidad de Cordoba in Colombia. I decided to become an English teacher because I feel like it is a very gratifying career; I love sharing what I know with others and the feeling of helping them feel accomplished is awesome! I have been a teacher for the past 4 years; I worked at a high school in Colombia and taught teenagers from 8th and 9th grades. In addition, I worked as a freelance tutor and I did a fellowship at NYC's The New School where I taught adult students from all over the world. In my free time, I love to listen to podcasts, read, work out, and take naps whenever I can; sometimes I draw too.

About the lesson

I try to keep my lessons really engaging and entertaining so that students are empowered and interested in their learning process. I like to offer feedback whenever necessary to ensure a successful learning process. I have experience using different online learning platforms that make the teaching-learning process easier.

She’s assertive and hardworking, she’s always trying to find ways to make the process of knowledge very fun and gives her students the perfect keys to look at it as an amazing journey to walk through. We know each other for years! So I’ve been able to see how good she is doing her work.
