About Rebecca
In my two years as a high school Spanish teacher and many other years as a summer learning camp teacher and an elementary, high school, and university tutor, I have found a passion for helping people reach their goals and increase their language proficiency and confidence. I love being a part of that exciting progress and will be encouraging and patient along the way. Along with my professional experience, my TEFL certification training has equipped me with helpful English-teaching framework and tools.
I absolutely love languages and their ability to connect people and open so many doors in our lives. I have been able to use my own language studies (Spanish and Urdu) in my travels to Spain, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and India, so I have experienced first-hand some of the opportunities that a new language brings. Learning other languages has also helped me to understand the language acquisition process and relate to my students.

First and foremost, my lessons are student-focused and fun. I like to be creative and incorporate a wide variety of strategies and tools, including games, activities, songs, articles, websites, podcasts, and visual aids.
My teaching methods vary depending on student preferences, needs, and learning styles, but I tend to focus on real-life conversation practice. A typical lesson with me will draw on a vocabulary theme (such as food, travel, or school), center around one or two grammatical concepts, and include plenty of written and/or verbal practice.
I have professional experience with high school and elementary school students, but have also worked as a tutor for university students, an ESL teacher for adults of all ages, and a TEFL trainer for adults.
As a tutor, I am committed to getting to know you as a student, encouraging you in your goals, and helping you to enjoy your learning journey!
