About Therese Joy
My name is Therese and I've been playing the clarinet for 10 years! Though I never formally attended music college, I want to be able to gain some tutoring experience and teach you what I learned in my firsthand experience playing.
I've been competing solos since I started playing and competed for 5 years where I've been awarded 3 "Honourable Mentions", and 1 "Best Woodwind Soloist" between the years of 2013-2017 from the Saskatchewan Band Association. They've also given me 4 years of Band Camps where we were pushed to our limits, playing from 8 am, to 4 pm, learning 4 months' worth of knowledge condensed into a week!
I've played in many intermediate bands and Honour bands during those years, through referrals from teachers, and worked under many different amazing conductors.
Unfortunately, when I moved in 2018, I had to leave it all behind for a city with lesser opportunities in music. With COVID and everything as well, I only played in my high school band, as well as our local city band called "Nickel City Ensemble".
Starting 2023, I'm finally getting my groove back to getting back into competition mode and played a solo with a final GOLD Mark of 89! I plan on participating in future Music Festivals and continuing to hone my skill in clarinet, and improve myself more so I can teach you better.

I've been performing solos for 10 years since I started playing, and helping you find the musicality of your playing is my goal!
If you are working on a solo piece, and you're looking for a way to take it to the next level, this lesson is for you.
If you can play your notes right, or get the rhythm right, or even play through the whole piece with few mistakes, that's perfect!
But what separates you from the rest who can do the same?
I can help you. Finding your identity and story within the music, and expressing yourself through your playing by working on musicality, phrases, and technicalities is what I will bring to the table.

I can teach students in High School and below, and can teach up to level 7 piece of music.
