About Scott
My journey with Excel started during my undergraduate studies in information systems and business analytics, where I quickly realized how essential spreadsheet skills are for effective decision-making and productivity. I completed a BBA in Information Systems and Business Analytics, which provided me with a solid foundation in data management, reporting, and analysis. Over the past 12 years, I have guided students and professionals at different stages, helping them overcome fear or hesitation when working with spreadsheets and develop competence and confidence through structured, personalized instruction.
I believe Excel should be taught not only as a software tool but also as a framework for logical thinking and practical problem-solving. Many learners struggle because they are shown functions without context, leading to confusion and anxiety. My teaching philosophy emphasizes understanding the purpose behind each tool, fostering experimentation, and encouraging learners to apply skills creatively. Lessons are adapted to each student’s goals, ensuring steady progress, mastery, and meaningful real-world application.
Outside of teaching, I continue to explore advanced Excel features, data analysis techniques, and automation processes to stay current with industry standards. Teaching Excel is deeply rewarding because I witness students transform from tentative beginners into confident and independent users capable of analyzing and managing data effectively. Supporting learners in gaining both technical skills and self-assurance is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career.
