About Sabrina
Hello! My name is Sabrina, and I will be teaching you how you can find and harness your creativity, then translate that onto a page, canvas, or panel.
I have been drawing and painting since before I can remember, as I'm sure many of you can relate to. I attended university in Florence, Italy for oil painting and drawing, where I also showed my work. I am a full-time artist focused on painting the dark, fantastic, and beautiful through the language of figurative composition.
When it comes to teaching, my goal is to aid you in not only learning the fundamentals, but in understand your own creative mind so that you can bring your visions to life!

Lessons are tailor-made to your goals and learning-style. For students who work best with structured assignments and deadlines, I will assign projects that are made to hone your drawing abilities as well as your creative thinking. For students who work better with more open-ended projects, I will work with you to develop a body of work that you will work on and we will critique over time to hone your skills and expand your thinking.
We'll start by meeting to discuss your current skill level, inspirations, and goals, and from there I'll develop a dedicated plan to your needs. To become a better artist, it is vital to build a strong foundation of fundamental skills AND creative/critical thinking. To do so, we'll reference a variety of art, from old masters' works to video game and movie concept art and translate what makes those pieces successful into your body of work.
While lessons will have an overall focus on form and composition, I will work in lessons on color theory, light and shadow, gesture drawing, and taking your own reference pictures. For those wishing to learn about oil painting as a medium, I will also work in lessons on color mixing, canvas building, canvas/panel priming (including making your own primer from scratch), paint-making, and provide a list of materials as needed.
