About Theodore
I’m a piano tutor with over 9 years of experience and a Bachelor of Science in Music Technology, specializing in Keyboard Production. My passion lies in composing for film, television, and video games, and I love helping students explore the storytelling power of music. I take a fun, engaging, and personalized approach to teaching, always adapting lessons to fit the unique needs of each learner. Whether you’re a school student, college student, adult, or working professional, I aim to make every session both inspiring and practical. My lessons cover a wide range of skills—from melodic writing and orchestration to sound design using synthesizers. I also guide students in working with digital audio workstations (DAWs) to compose, produce, and bring their musical ideas to life. I’ve worked with students at the intermediate and advanced levels, as well as professionals looking to refine their skills in cinematic scoring. My goal is to help each student find their creative voice and master the tools that bring it to life. We’ll explore harmony, emotion, and structure—all in service of powerful musical storytelling. My teaching approach focuses on making pop piano accessible, fun, and practical. I help students learn how to play their favorite songs using chord-based methods, rhythm patterns, and ear training. Instead of relying only on sheet music, we explore how to hear and understand music from the inside out.
Lessons cover pop chord voicings, left-hand groove patterns, and how to create your own arrangements. We break down songs by artists students love, and I guide them in playing by ear and recognizing common progressions. Students learn how to adapt and simplify complex pieces or dress up simple ones with richer textures.
I’m especially skilled in working with adult learners and self-motivated players who want to play just for the joy of it. I also support pop-focused pianists in building fluency, confidence, and creativity at the keyboard. Whether you’re a beginner or someone returning to piano, I adapt the lessons to fit your pace and musical goals.
