About Kayla
Hello! I’m a Juris Doctor graduate with a strong academic background in Psychology and a passion for helping students become more confident in their writing and communication skills.
Throughout my academic and professional experience, I have developed strong skills in writing, research, reading comprehension, organization, and communicating complex ideas clearly. I understand that English can feel intimidating, especially when it comes to essays, grammar, or expressing your ideas clearly. My goal is to make learning feel approachable, supportive, and manageable.
I take the time to understand each student’s individual needs and adapt my lessons accordingly. Whether you need help preparing for an assignment, improving your grammar, strengthening an essay, or simply becoming more confident in English, I will work with you step by step and at a pace that feels comfortable.
You can expect professionalism, patience, encouragement, and constructive feedback in every lesson. I want my students to leave each session not only with a better understanding of the material, but also with greater confidence in their own abilities.

My approach to tutoring is patient, personalized, and focused on building both skills and confidence. I believe students learn best when they understand not only what is correct, but why it is correct. I work with each student to identify their strengths, areas for improvement, and individual learning style, then adapt lessons accordingly.
My teaching methods include guided practice, examples, discussion, writing exercises, reading comprehension activities, and constructive feedback. For writing assignments, I focus on helping students organize their ideas, develop clear arguments, strengthen grammar and sentence structure, and communicate their thoughts effectively. Rather than simply correcting mistakes, I explain the reasoning behind the correction so students can apply the skill independently in future assignments.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material and a discussion of the student's current goals or assignments. We then focus on one or two key skills through examples and guided practice before applying those skills to the student's own work. We finish by reviewing progress, answering questions, and identifying a few practical strategies the student can continue practicing independently.
What sets me apart is my combination of legal and psychology education. As a Juris Doctor graduate, I have extensive experience with reading, writing, research, organization, argument development, and communicating complex ideas clearly. My background in Psychology also helps me approach students with patience and understand that different people learn in different ways. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while they learn.
My lessons are best suited for middle school, high school, college, and adult learners who want support with English, grammar, essay writing, reading comprehension, academic writing, proofreading, or developing stronger overall communication skills. I am especially happy to work with students who feel overwhelmed by writing assignments or lack confidence in their English skills. My goal is not simply to help students complete one assignment, but to give them skills and strategies they can continue using on their own.
