About Margot
I was born in Bern (Switzerland), and I grew up in France, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and a Master’s Degree in Philosophy, with a specialization in History of Medical Ethics.
Then I moved to Spain, where I lived several years, and where I taught French in High School.
I also lived and worked as a French Teacher in primary and secondary school in Morocco and Egypt.
Afterwards, I moved to Edinburgh and graduated with a master’s degree in Arabic.
During my studies, and until now, I also gave private Arabic, Spanish and Philosophy lessons. I also work as a volunteer Arabic-English translator.
I am kind and very patient patient, and I have a good sense of pedagogy: I love finding original and simple ways to explain things, as well as doing my best to create enjoyable lessons.
Among other things, I am really passionate about arts in general (especially music and literature; I also practice origami), nature, sciences and sports (mainly martial arts). Most importantly, I love learning languages as well as learning about the culture it carries. If it happens that you share similar interests, I would more than pleased to lead conversations about these fascinating topics (and if you don’t, then I’d be happy to learn more about your own favorite topics during our conversational classes! )

I would be happy to offer you conversational practice, unless you prefer to focus on something more specific, like preparing a proficiency test such as DELF or TCF. I can help you to develop your knowledge of French culture, vocabulary, pronunciation and grammars. And of course, as a language lover, I can also provide you some useful tips for learning languages!
My lessons are always tailored to each student. That’s why, first, we will start by a basic conversation in order to evaluate your level and to get to know you better as well as defining what your objectives are and how I can help you to achieve it.
Each lesson will include conversations about interesting topics and dialogues, so you have the opportunity to put in practice what we already learned and to memorize it more easily. We will also have some small exercises and some funny games that will help you to learn in a lively and dynamic way. Through this, we will also be able to deal with some useful grammars points and to learn some new vocabulary, depending on your objectives and interests.
My lessons are carefully organized and built to learn French step by step. As an adept of the “fun and learn” way, I always try to use ludic learning methods that help you to enjoy the learning process, such as using songs, which helps to memorize new vocabulary and grammars rules. Depending on what you like, I can also use tales, movies, articles, or even literature, for more advanced students. My lessons are carefully organized and built to learn French step by step.
Since I strongly believe in immersion for learning language, I will try, depending on the student’s level, to use French as much as possible.
I would also be happy to provide additional visual and audio support in order to help you remember what we did during the lessons. You won’t need to take notes or copy anything, I will send you everything .
I usually teach on Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams. I’m always available if you have a question about the lessons.
