About Graham
I have a patient, calm approach and understand that A-level chemistry is an extremely challenging and demanding topic. At times, it can be difficult to score highly due to the knowledge required and the processes that students have to apply this knowledge to.
However, by gaining over a decade of experience in this subject, I have found that understanding which areas of the course requires independent student work and which requires support, tutoring sessions can be optimised to ensure students get the most benefit. Each lesson will have a clear focus to ensure there are no gaps in the students knowledge and ongoing feedback that I provide keeps the learner up to date on their progress. That said, lessons are also flexible so if one particular area needs more lesson time spent on it then the lesson can be adapted to suit the pace of the learner.
During each lesson I will fill out a summary sheet identifying which questions have been answered well and which will need revisiting - and most importantly WHY the student didn't pick up the marks. This is essential in the student understand where they need to target improvement.

I have been teaching A-level chemistry both face to face and online and have taught over 30 students on a 1:1 basis. I focus predominantly on past paper exam questions as this is the best way to assess and improve current understanding of the topics studied. It also enables exam technique to be developed over time and I also will set homework to be completed outside of lessons which allows students to put into practise the skills learned during the lessons.
I am a qualified teacher with QTS and whilst I only tutor A-level chemistry I have also worked in both primary and secondary schools so have experience of a range of abilities from Early years up to A-level. Lessons are an hour as this gives sufficient time to explore a number of topics to a good level of detail.
