About Faiq Rafaie
I am a Malaysian National Arbiter and an active competitive chess player dedicated to helping students build a strong foundation in chess. My experience in both officiating and competitive tournaments allows me to teach the game with accuracy, discipline, and practical insight.
I provide structured, patient, and engaging lessons tailored to each student's learning pace. Whether you are learning chess for the first time or preparing for school and local tournaments, I will guide you step by step to improve your understanding, confidence, and decision-making over the board.
My goal is not only to teach students how to play chess but also to develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong appreciation for the game.

My Teaching Approach
I believe every strong chess player starts with a solid foundation. My lessons are interactive, structured, and tailored to each student's learning pace. I focus on understanding rather than memorization, ensuring students know why each move is played.
Teaching Methodology
Step-by-step instruction from the basic rules to fundamental strategies.
Interactive lessons with practical exercises and guided games.
Analysis of students' games to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
Simple tactical puzzles to develop calculation and pattern recognition.

Lesson Duration
A typical lesson lasts 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student's age, level, and learning goals.
Qualifications & Experience:
Malaysian National Arbiter
Chess Player & E-Chess Coach
Experience officiating and participating in FIDE RATED and MCF RATED chess tournaments.
Passionate about coaching beginners and developing young chess players.
My lessons are suitable for:
Complete beginners with no prior chess experience
Children (6 years old and above)
Students preparing for school or local tournaments
Adults who want to learn chess as a hobby or improve their fundamental skills
