African dance could be intimidating, but with the proper method of teaching, an experienced instructor, and a fun approach, you will achieve your result. My unique way of teaching is staying authentic to the African culture through the dance steps I teach. My method is to have fun and be creative by engaging your imagination while teaching you how to focus on the body movement that will improve your style and fluidity in any dance style, including contemporary and Popular Afrobeats and Afromix Dances. In most of my sessions, I will teach you the dance steps' meaning, story, history, and origin. I take you to the root where the move originated from. I have a specific method for all levels and ages, with or without experience. My teaching style will give you the tools to dance socially and in any setting. After a dance session with me, people feel empowered, motivated, and filled with joy. There is a sense of purpose to their existence. I don't just teach people how to dance, but I connect to their souls by leading them to see what they can achieve through their God-given power; some may call it a therapeutic African dance session. Dance styles: -Contemporary, -Traditional, -Urban: * Afrobeats, *Afrodance, *Coupe Decale *Ndombolo * Soukous *Gwara Gwara... -Afropop Dance Focus: Western and Central Africa While learning the steps, we will focus on the importance of the body as it plays a significant role in moving and accurately executing a dance movement. You will develop *Mobility *Coordination (Ability to work different parts of the body together) *Kinesthetic awareness (to know and control the position and state of the body), *Control of weight and balance in motion, *An awareness of space, *A strong sense of rhythm, *An appreciation of music. Perfect! Chefi created the perfect 4 lesson Xmas present package for my wife, taking her initial fascination with Afrobeats to a greater appreciation of West African dance. Chefi’s experience, knowledge & great energy carried us thru even the challenges of online coaching & learning, and are giving my wife a great foundation for improvising on the the dance floor, she says. BEST TEACHER EVER!!! She teaches the meaning and origin of the dances that she teaches and she ensures that everyone has fun. Her classes are for all levels of dance, so if your a beginner don't be afraid to try her class. In every class she works with all of her students individually to make sure that they are confident and comfortable; the environment always feels safe and full of love. I love her classes and would definitely recommend more people try it out.
Chefiatou is an amazing trustworthy teacher because her passion and dedication for every student is top notch quality. Her energy, charisma, creativity, and pure joy lights up the room every time she teaches. The first class is free only if you pay ahead to secure the following session. The first class is an introductory class on the dance style. No refund If a student does not show up or does not reschedule. I can work out an arrangement with the student once an agreement has been made before the session.
