About Paul
I am a fully qualified teacher with a passion for education, science and technology. As a tutor, I strive to make learning engaging and fun and have a demonstrated history of helping my students achieve top grades in their science examinations. I am passionate about the use of technology in education and regularly leverage online tools to support the learning of my students both inside and outside of the classroom.
I hold a bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Oxford (double first), a PGCE from the University of Buckingham and am currently studying for a master’s degree in educational technologies from the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout my own education, I have excelled academically – my studies have been made possible by four merit-based academic scholarships, including a highly competitive international scholarship from graduate study in the USA.
Upon graduating from the University of Oxford, I spent four years teaching in top British independent schools. My primary responsibilities included teaching chemistry, physics, maths and astronomy to all years and overseeing chemistry Oxbridge applications. Alongside helping my students achieve top grades, I regularly organised enrichment opportunities for the wider school community. I have experience teaching the full range of abilities and pride myself on my ability to adapt my teaching style to address the unique needs of each student.
In addition to teaching, I have tutored extensively over the past five years. This experience has provided me with a comprehensive knowledge of many exam boards, including IGCSE, IB, A Level and Pre-U. Key to the success of my tutees is ensuring they develop a deep understanding of scientific phenomena and adopt appropriate study habits to support their learning. I rely on tried and tested pedagogical techniques to deepen understanding and aid memory in preparation for final examinations.
