About Julie
I resigned from my Geometry teaching job in November 2020 so I can live with my 95 year-old grandfather so he doesn't have to move to assisted living. He's doing better now, and my husband has assumed main care-taking responsibilities, so I'm ready to help students again (from home, preferably, for safety reasons). I taught in Texas public schools for over 11 years (and 6 months in Sweden!). I am certified in High School Math, Generalist grades 5-8, Supplemental ESL, and Special Education EC-12. I've worked with both middle and high school students, and tutoring has always been my favorite part of being an educator.

I try to find ways to teach math in a way that anyone can understand, no matter their background. I love when students ask questions; it helps me figure out what they need and how they think. I always look for real-life examples to put in the curriculum to create a more tangible level of student comprehension. My goal is to not only help students learn the skills they need to be successful in future math levels, but also to develop a confident and inquisitive level of problem solving that they can apply to other subjects as well.
