My courses focus on strengthening reading comprehension and developing clear, confident writing skills. Students learn how to analyze novels in depth, explore themes and character development and structure strong literary essays with well-supported arguments. Lessons also focus on vocabulary development.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s level, goals and learning style to ensure personalized support and steady progress. I break down complex skills, such as essay writing and literary analysis, by scaffolding lessons into manageable steps. Guided annotation of key passages and close textual analysis help students identify themes, symbolism, tone, figurative language and author intent.
Units include direct instruction, discussion, group work and independent practice. Lessons are ideal for students in Grades 4 to 8.
