About Yoko
Nice to meet you, my name is Yoko Ara. I have been living in Maine USA for 30 years. Before coming to the United States, I taught English at JTB Travel College in Sugamo, Tokyo Japan. I love teaching and currently teach students both online and in person. I started teaching after completing a master's degree at the University of Chicago. I was born and raised in Japan and could not afford to study English abroad when I was young. My dream back then was to become an interpreter, which I had come to admire after seeing their performance on TV. I started studying English diligently at my home when I was in college, and was able to become an interpreter without having to study abroad. I acquired a teaching certificate of English (TEFL) and also that of Japanese. I truly enjoy communicating and teaching my students while watching them improve their English and/or Japanese. I would like to utilize my experience to give practical advice to everyone on how to effectively overcome English and Japanese language difficulties.
